About Mini Missions

Where story and movement come together

Mini Missions is an educator-designed, play-based movement program for children aged approximately 2–8. Every session takes children on an interactive mission where they become part of an exciting story and move through a sequence of play experiences linked by a simple narrative.

Whether they're exploring a jungle, travelling through space or searching for treasure, children are encouraged to move, imagine, problem-solve and work together. Story and movement become the vehicle for communication, creativity and social learning.

More than sport

Narrative and imaginative play draw in children who might hold back from traditional sport.

More than a story

Children don't just listen. They become part of the story through movement.

Inclusive by design

Flexible games mean every child can join in, connect and experience success.

How It Works

Every session is a mission

High-energy play inside a safe, predictable structure, so children always know where they are in the adventure.

  1. 1

    Mission briefing

We gather together, meet the theme and look at the mission board. The adventure begins!

  2. 2

    Movement games

Children complete a series of active games, each one a chapter of the story.

  3. 3

    Tick it off

After every challenge we tick the board, celebrating progress with high fives.

  4. 4

    Mission complete

A calm, structured finish (mission items off) helps children transition out of play.

Built on three teaching strategies

  • Engagement. Designed through the eyes of the child. We value participation over perfection.
  • Strength-based. We celebrate effort and progress so every child leaves feeling capable and proud.
  • Safe & predictable structure. A clear, consistent format that supports regulation and smooth transitions.

Each mission runs for two weeks in a row so that new skills and vocabulary are consolidated, then we rotate to a new adventure.

Physical skills

Fundamental movement skills: running, jumping, throwing, balancing, coordination and spatial awareness.

Problem solving

Open-ended challenges like "How will we get across the river?" build creativity and persistence.

Social & emotional

Cooperating, sharing space, taking turns and celebrating the success of others.

Language

New vocabulary paired with movement, as we "dodge" snakes or jump over "craters" on the moon.

Nick did a great job wrangling the kids for my son's 7th birthday. He was prompt, prepared and adapted his games for the age group represented. He connected well with the kids, quickly learning names and making sure even the little kids were engaged… Highly recommend!
